5 Things to Do in Boerne, TX This Holiday Season + Food Recommendations

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Did you know Boerne, TX transforms into a magical holiday town this time of year?! Neither did we until we packed our bags for a little weekend getaway.

Boerne is a little town about 35 minutes outside of San Antonio and about 3 and a half hours from Houston. It is filled with pockets of beautiful nature, delicious restaurants, natural caverns, local shops & boutiques, and every year around this time, they go all out for Christmas. All the buildings and shops are twinkling with lights, there's a huge Christmas tree right in Main Plaza, and they have events going on all season long.

If you're looking for a little change of scenery in the coming weeks, here are 5 top things to do in Boerne, TX.

1. Stroll, shop, and eat down the Hill Country Mile.

3. Sip on some beer at one of the local breweries.

4. Explore and hike through Cibolo Nature Center.

5. Discover the exquisite cave formations underground at Cave without a name or Cascade Caverns.

Breakfast/Brunch Recommendations:

*The Dienger Trading Co. -- Sit down for breakfast and coffee here then shop at their boutique.

*Bear Moon Bakery -- Grab some pastries to enjoy while you walk down Main.

*Brantley's Bistro -- Enjoy a hot and delicious brunch here.

Lunch/Dinner Recommendations:

*Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. -- The Bier Buns with an egg on top is a must here!

*The Bevy Provisions Co. -- Grab dinner and drinks and stay awhile! They often have live music and are located inside The Bevy hotel.

*Peggy's on the Green -- Enjoy an elegant South-inspired meal at this restaurant situated right in the center of Boerne Main Plaza.

*Tusculum Brewing Co. -- Sip on a flight of beer out on their spacious outdoor area right off Cibolo Creek.

Where to stay

*The Bevy -- We stayed here during our trip and absolutely adored it! It's minutes from downtown, affordable, and includes some amazing amenities like a heated pool, outdoor fireplace, and bar. (A huge thank you to The Bevy for hosting us!)

In case you plan to visit around New Year's, they will be hosting a New Year's Countdown Party at the Bevy! More details here.

*COVID restrictions & requirements: Wearing masks inside is strictly enforced, and the city has installed hand sanitization stations throughout their downtown area. We felt completely safe the entire time and were relieved to see everyone respecting the rules.

A big thank you to Visit Boerne for partnering with us on this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
