Houston Coffee Shop Series No. 11

Updated: Jun 3, 2019

It's officially December, which means the holiday decorations are coming out, the malls are packed with Christmas shoppers, and for us Texans, the leaves are finally changing!

November was such a fun month. We got to spend some time with family for Thanksgiving and surprisingly, we got close to all of our shopping done already! To be honest, we did all of our shopping on Amazon this year because it is just so dang convenient. Now, we are ready to take on the last month of 2018 and finish out the year with a bang without the added stress of shopping for our family and friends.  But if you are still shopping for friends, who may just happen to be coffee lovers like us, we decided it would be fun and appropriate (since afterall, this is our coffee shop series) to put together a little Coffee Lovers Shopping Guide on Amazon. Click here to take a look - you'll find some cute items inspired by the coffee shops we visited in December.

That said, some awesome content and project is schedule for December, and we are excited to share them with you all! (Hint: there might be a sneak peek in this month's coffee shop series.) Read along and find out!

BLUE DOOR COFFEE CO.

21 Waterway Ave Suite 110, The Woodlands, TX 77380

The Good

  • Plenty of tables and couches to suit all your coffee shop needs, including a couple tables outside

  • Beautiful interior decor! If that plant wall doesn't scream Insta-worthy, I don't know what does.

  • Wifi available

  • Excellent location in The Woodlands, very walkable to shopping and restaurants. (More to come on this later. *Wink*)

  • Offers vegan and gluten-free options, while locally sourcing the ingredients they use. However, please note that they do not have a separate kitchen to cook the gluten-free dishes, so if you're highly allergic make sure you're not getting the food!

The Bad

  • As an "inside-looper", The Woodlands is quite the drive, but we happened to be in the area when we stopped to visit. If you ever are too, make sure to stop by for your coffee fix.

GIANT LEAP COFFEE

3302 Canal St, Houston, TX 77003

The Good

  • Connected to a shared coworking space

  • Serves Houston's Amaya Roasting Co. coffeebeans

  • Upgrade your drip coffee ($2.75) for 75 cents for free refills

  • Love the minimalist, hipster vibes

The Bad

  • Small space with a few small tables and bar seating with wooden furniture... unfortunately it's not too comfy.

PURA COFFEE

7925 Katy Fwy C, Houston, TX 77024

The Good

  • Very spacious, would be great for a work/study session

  • Loved the blueberry matcha latte!

  • Obsessed with the vintage coffee wall art, which you can find on Amazon here. This would make the perfect gift for your coffee-loving friends!

The Bad

  • Chairs don't seem to be too comfortable for extended periods of time

  • Pretty pricey for what you're getting

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these coffee shops as you make your way there this month! Happy December!
