Koi Houston opened a few months ago, and trust us sushi lovers, you’ll want to add this spot to your must-visit list! Not only is their fish incredibly fresh and high-quality, but the restaurant itself is immaculate. It’s minimalistic and modern, yet approachable and inviting.
Koi offers a no frills, traditional approach to Japanese cuisine. Their fish is imported straight from Japan, and we were absolutely blown away by everything we tried, especially their handrolls! Each handroll is served in a special nori wrap that you remove as you go to ensure that the nori is fresh and crisp when you’re ready to eat it.
We got the Handroll Tasting as well as the Koi A5 Wagyu Steak, 9-Piece Nigiri Platter, Sashimi Platter, and Momo Maki. Let’s just say, we would gladly eat this exact meal every day of the week!
While the sushi is reason enough to pay a visit to Koi, the cocktails definitely deserve special recognition. The Matcha Made in Heaven, Carajillo, Espresso Martini, La Dragonita (our fav), and Smoked Old Fashioned were all hits in our book!
P.S. They have beautiful private rooms that seat up to 15. Great for small parties/bigger groups! Reservations are recommended!
