La Fisheria re-opened last year after being devastated by Hurricane Harvey in 2017, just months after their initial opening. The journey that they overcame to get where they are today is incredible, and it's amazing to see how far they have come after our visit last week.
First let's talk about how beautiful the restaurant is. The floral wall, reflective light fixtures, and blue accents scream coastal vibes, and we're all about it.
Not surprisingly, they have put just as much thought into their food as their vibrant decor. They serve Mexican-styled seafood with creative twists of flair that make for a unique dining experience. One of the more intriguing options was the Pompano Al Limon, an entire Pompano (type of fish) is fried in lemon butter and served on a platter. It can be a bit of a shock initially, but it is absolutely worth it. There are very few bones, and the combination of crisp skin and tender meat dipped in the sauce make for a bite to remember. Additional favorites were the Vuelve a la Vida, a.k.a. the "hangover cure", a spicy seafood soup and the Tamal de Elote con Camarones, a creamy twist on traditional tamales.
