Updated: Jun 3, 2019

Good morning everyone! It looks like this weekend's forecast is looking up! Low's are in the 70's and high's will just barely hit 90! With the fall weather we've been having these past few days, I am beyond excited for the leaves to start changing colors!

If you're looking to take advantage of this brief period of beautiful weather before it just becomes cold, here are our top 5 FREE things to do in the Museum District!

1. Glassell School of Art

Everyone knows about the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, but did you know that the building right across the street is the teaching institute of the MFAH, also known as the Glassell School of Art. Inside you'll find a beautiful structural design that you will definitely want to snap a picture of before heading upstairs to see the art displays from students of the school.

To us, the McGovern Centennial Gardens is the epitome of a "hidden gem". We had no idea it was right under our noses until we stumbled upon while exploring in the area. It is a huge eight-acre garden that prides itself on having such a diverse assortment of greenery. There is also an extensive vegetable and fruit garden that gets donated to the Houston Food Bank!

Another beautiful find. Plan to spend at least an hour or two at the Japanese Garden in Hermann Park. They call it a "peaceful hideaway," and that is the perfect description of it! You'll find waterfalls, bridges, cherry trees, and more.
