A while back, I finally made it over to the ever so popular Japanese restaurant, Uchi. If you haven't heard of Uchi, there's no judgment here. It's probably good that you haven't heard of it yet, because Uchi is not your run of the mill sushi restaurant. It's upscale and pretty pricey. Lucky for you though, we have a trick to seeing what all the buzz is about without completely breaking the bank.
I had been looking forward to dining to Uchi for forever, and walking in, I was a little intimidated. I've heard so many good things about the restaurant, and once I took a look at the menu, I had no idea what to get. Everything sounded so good. Thanks to our lovely server, she recommended doing the Signature Tasting, especially since I had never been before. The tasting consists of all of the top items on the menu, and it's perfect to share between 2 people!
HAMA CHILI || Yellowtail, ponzu, thai chili, orange supreme
📷
ZERO SEN || Yellowtail, avocado, shallot, cilantro
📷
BRUSSEL SPROUTS || Lemon, chili
Not included in the tasting but a popular side dish to try!
📷
WALU WALU || Oak-grilled escolar, candied citrus, yuzupon, myoga
📷
AKAMI TE || Bigeye tuna, nam pla, watermelon
📷
HAMACHI NABE || Yellowtail, koshihikari rice, soy broth, egg yolk
📷
FRIED MILK || Toasted meringue, chocolate
Overall, $100 for the tasting and an extra $7.50 for the very worth it brussel sprouts - You're looking at under $60 per person. While this is still quite a bit to spend on one meal, you're splurging on a meal the smart way and trying to best items on the menu! I'd say it's worth it, especially to celebrate a special occasion!
