Wula Buhuan: New Sichuan Eatery in the Energy Corridor

Updated: May 29, 2019

The secret is out. A new Sichuan restaurant is officially open in the Energy Corridor! Wula Buhuan serves up authentic Sichuan food. The menu offers a large selection of different appetizers or "cold dishes", followed by an array of soups, entrees, and vegetables. Although this type of Chinese food is known for being extra spicy, our weak tolerance for spice was able to handle the food here, so if that normally deters you from exploring this type of cuisine... don't!

Aside from the classic spicy fried chicken and dumplings, the dishes we tried were completely different from things we typically eat at Sichuan restaurants. The adventurous side of our palettes was both curious and craving more!

APPETIZERS/COLD DISHES

SPICY BEEF TENDON

BON BON CHICKEN

GARLIC BACON

We've never had pork belly cooked like this, and it was very interesting! It's hard to describe the texture, but it is a cross between buttery and crunchy. Highly recommend trying this out if you're up for something a little different!

HOT & SOUR DUMPLING

These are made fresh every day, and you can certainly tell by the quality of the wrapper. We could eat these all day.

ENTREES

SPICY CHICKEN CUBE

SPICY BOILED BEEF

A little on the oily side, but this one was another one of my favorites to try. The beef is so tender, it melts in your mouth. The flavor is also FIRE.

All dishes are served to be eaten family-style, so naturally this is a great group spot. If you're looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special moment, there is also a private area that is partially enclosed by beautiful Chinese wooden panels.
